You can have effective sex to get pregnant faster if you plan your sex days a little smartly. To easily become pregnant, you just have to correctly plan the time of your sexual activity. That requires you to have a little simple knowledge of your menstrual cycle and your ovulation time after your periods. Follow these two links for that simple knowledge.
About 80 to 90 percent of the women trying to get pregnant conceive early within one year. The rest take longer or may need help due to some problem.
You conceive and become pregnant when the sperm gets deposited in the vagina of the woman during unprotected sexual intercourse, travels up to the fallopian tube, and fertilizes the egg or the ovum of the woman.
This fertilization does not and cannot happen all the time. It happens when the woman is most fertile and the egg is present and alive in her reproductive tract.
Woman’s most fertile period
A woman’s fertile day is when she ovulates and the egg is present in the fallopian tube to get fertilized by the sperm. That period is very short because the egg or the ovum does not live for long.
The ovum is present only during the ovulation day and it is during this time that the live sperm should be present in the reproductive tract of the woman to fertilize the egg and make the woman pregnant.
The ovulation time is the most fertile time of the woman during her monthly cycle.
What we mean by “during this time”, is three days immediately after a positive ovulation test result. This will mean two days before the onset of ovulation and the day of ovulation. These are the best days to have sex to become pregnant.
This is because the life of the egg or ovum is only 12 to 24 hours after which it withers away and is no longer live, while the life of a sperm is about 5 days.
So a sperm deposited in the vagina even three days prior to ovulation will still be alive and can fertilize the ovum immediately on ovulation.
The best time to have sex to get pregnant is, therefore, every day three days prior and on the ovulation day.
It thus becomes essential to know how to determine that ovulation day.
Usually, a normal monthly menstrual cycle lasts for 28 days. The first day is the first day of your menstruation or period of bleeding.
In such a cycle, ovulation occurs on the 14th day of the cycle. The ovum lives for only 12 to 24 hours and is dead the next day. So having sex after the ovulation day will not result in pregnancy.
But, the problem arises because many women do not have a regular monthly cycle as mentioned above. Some women have a 21-day cycle while some may have 35 days cycle. In such cases, it becomes difficult to predict the ovulation day.
There are two ways to do that:
- From the symptoms of ovulation
- By doing the ovulation test at home using the ovulation predictor kit
Find that ovulation day to have sex and become pregnant
In a usual 28-day monthly cycle, ovulation occurs on the 14th day of the cycle. There can be and are variations in this. A positive way to identify the ovulation day is to do an ovulation test.
Couples trying to conceive should, therefore, identify the ovulation day of the woman. This can be done by carrying out the home ovulation test to identify the day of the ovulation.
It is mostly advised to have sex during the 10th day to the 18th day of the ovulation cycle to take care of any variations on the ovulation day.
This will ensure that the live sperms are present in the fallopian tubes to fertilize the egg whenever ovulation takes place.
It is important to note that occasionally in spite of following the above procedure healthy couples may not succeed with pregnancy and can take several months or years to bring on pregnancy.
However, in such cases, getting both the husband and wife checked for fertility is advised to rule out any pathology.
